So, since we are all in varying degrees of inaction, let’s have some more thread ideas
What, if any, rule changes would you like to see (they don’t need to be realistic😏)
I’ll start with
1. I would like to see the ball made a little heavier. Not much but a few grammes would make a lot of difference, puckouts would be shorter (if going long) midfield and inside lines would be involved in a lot more play also. You see this in camomile where the ball doesn’t tend to travel as far and all players seem more involved more often than hurling
2. I would allow all teams an optional substitution at HT. But it can only be used then. If you don’t use it during the interval you lose it. It’s a squad game now, we all know this.
Anyone got any more offhand? Or disagree with the above?
I agree about the sliothar being made heavier.Something must be done or else the pitch won't be long enough for the game soon! Even at underage level lads are scoring points from inside their own halves these days. I would like to see a proper advantage rule in the game. But advantage should not mean that the player origonally fouled can go on to commit a foul himself as often happens nowadays.Something akin to the advantage rule in rugby is what I'm thinking of.If a fouled player commits a foul himself, the common one being overcarrying, the whistle goes and he gets his free. This would prevent a repeat of the ridiculous goal Ger Alyward got in Thurles a couple of years ago. I agree with mscofield on the consecutive handpass.
